It’s all about the benjamins, or lack thereof, apparently

I can’t believe Edwards endorsed Obama.  I didn’t like that guy to begin with, and I like him even less now.

Check out Talk Left for the $$ connection b/w Edwards and Obama.

What really gets me is this quote from WaPo’s The Trail (h/t):

Edwards praised both Clinton and Obama for caring about poverty. “I think they’re both very strong on the issue … and Sen. Clinton has been working on this for decades, and particularly focused on children,” Edwards said. But poverty, he added, has been “central to Senator Obama’s life.”

WTF?!?!?!!?

I’m sorry, I read Obama’s memoir - LISTENED to it, in fact (for 6 hours!).  This is BULLSH*T.  The guy grew up lower-middle-class, and has been solidly middle-class, and more recently upper-middle-class, his whole life.  I call BULLSH*T.  (Oh, did I say that already???)

I LOVE how this and the NARAL endorsement both give a shout-out to Clinton for doing the work they champion, before they links arms with Obama and walk off into the sunset.  Screw kids and women and their reproductive organs.  We’re all just dead weight in the biz-ness of governin’.

Most of the back and forth b/w these candidates hasn’t aggravated me as much as some of you, but NOW I’M JUST PISSED.  I’m sending Hill money RIGHT NOW.

  1. My sentiments exactly, with one difference. I actually was an Edwards supporter until he dropped out of the race precisely because of his anti-poverty campaign. Now I feel like a fool for being buffaloed by him. Obama’s done nothing to indicate that fighting poverty is a priority for him, and from what I can tell from his resume and his books, he’s done about zero for poor people in his life. For crying out loud, he didn’t even take care of his own constituents who were freezing in his pal Tony Rezko’s tenements!

Sure would be nice if Elizabeth would endorse Hill. But it’s unlikely in the extreme that she’ll go against John.
