March 4: Week in Review
I’ve been quiet the last few days, at a conference in New Orleans. I’m about to rent a car and check out the city - I haven’t been here in six months, the longest stretch since I started consulting here in January ‘06. Thank goodness for Donna Darko continuing to populate this site.
Last night I finally got some quality time with the blogosphere, if I can call the rantings of too many of the sites “quality.” But here’s some stuff I liked:
NYC Weboy has a great post taking apart the myths circulating around the ’sphere re: Clinton’s campaign, as well as what we’ve learned from her 3 victories on Tuesday.
RE: MI and FL delegates, Talk Left writes:
Clinton is on offense on this issue and Obama is on defense. He is against voters if he does not support seating Michigan and Florida. But he fears a redo in a Florida primary as it will likely be a bad result and a very bad news cycle for him - one that reiterates the problems he has in big states. Obama is between a rock and a hard place here.
Obama has already rejected the idea of a “firehouse primary” in MI. We need to keep up the heat on seating these delegates!!
I really liked the comments thread at Shakesville re: Susan Power’s calling Clinton a “monster.” Check out the writer who prefers Clinton because she’d probably have his/her back better in a “knife fight.” I don’t disagree! At Firedoglake, they give props to Clinton for her campaign’s “transparency”:
the Clinton campaign has been much more open when it comes to letting people ask tough questions of them. Something like what happened the other night — when Obama general counsel Bob Bauer got on a Clinton conference call and hammered Wolfson — could never happen in reverse. I’ve asked to be on the Obama calls and they’ve never allowed it, because I certainly would’ve liked to ask similar questions of them about the Harry & Louise ads, so points to Clinton for transparency.
Anglachel deconstructs the notion of “inevitability” re: Obama. MyDD points out the attrition of Independent and GOP voters from Obama in the March 4 contests. Jerome Armstrong writes:
It’s pretty rare that an upstart candidate gets a shot at beating an establishment candidate even once, and yet, Obama’s had three swings and missed each time. He’s not going to have another shot at putting away Clinton with everything going from him, as he did his first three chances.
Firedoglake talks about the Dem “Archie Bunker” voters and who will win their votes.
And Pocochina leaves us with an inspiring and passionate post about why she loves Clinton. Read the whole thing.
